This module explores the growing importance of diversity in the public relations profession amid recent controversies and shifting demographics. It examines how major brands have faced backlash for racially insensitive campaigns and why greater inclusion across race, gender, sexuality, age, ability, and socioeconomic background is essential for effective communication. Lesson 1 introduces the origins and key theories of diversity in public relations, while Lesson 2 examines demographic trends, recruitment and retention challenges, practitioner experiences, and the business case for embracing diversity to better engage with diverse publics.
